this is painting an entirely different portrait of Henry compared to when i read Henry and June. before when i read snippets of their letters, i thought of him as this big romantic figure, full of passion; then i tried to read Tropic of Cancer and was so disappointed that it wasn’t what i expected it to be. now it’s making so much more sense why he wrote like that.

this is the sort of read that is too much to take in all at once. i’m overwhelmed by the substance and the emotion. too many things to underline

seeing quotes i’ve only ever read before online. and discovering more. i can’t believe i have this in my hands!!

i feel as if i am only now starting to live after reading this . every day u read a few pages and it fuels me to write in my own diary … anais…. you are one of one and i am one of one and we are all one of one and need to put thoughts to paper i would read every single persons diary if i could no matter how simple . life is dramatic and beautiful WE MUST WRITE
