Meh… finished this bc only had a couple hours left, but was a weird read. The characters bugged me the most, very tropey. And in terms of how fast the end of society happened, not very believable, but hey, it’s fiction after all. Maybe 2, 2.5 stars but no higher. Won’t read the next one (cliffhanger did not work on me, apparently).

Started listening on 1.25x, will prob be finished within the next day. Think the only reason why I haven’t dropped it yet (I mean I kinda did for a week) is bc the prose is fine. And the fact that I’m still a sucker for an apocalypse setting. Interested to see what happens when he goes full Nevermore.. hopefully it’s worth it.

It’s not a long book so maybe I’m only this far in bc this is the only book I have to listen to… but then I’m also a sucker for apocalypse stories. Not a fan of the trope-y characters, especially super loving magical animals if that makes sense lol…but will prob finish out of boredom/the sake of mindless listening. Maybe things will spice up once he “turns”? That’s what’s neat about the story
