Choosing to end the book by arguing that climate change is a hoax is truly the cherry on top of an absurdist, surreal perspective of economics

So governments are evil monopolies that are destroying sociey but monarchy are small family businesses that deserve our support?

Arguing that Chicago would be safer if taxes could be abolished and instead spent on private security is like arguing the ocean would be safer if there wasn't any water. Yeah, it'd be safer for the people who don't care about water (those not in danger of violence in the first place). But the people who need the most do not pay taxes because they are below the poverty line. This will only make the rich richer

The author argues the government acts as a monopoly, and it can, but even a skimming of Adam Smith would prove to the author that monopolies are a natural part of capitalism, and it is the job of the government to break these monopolies, without the government, monopolies are inevitable

There's this delusional idea that government has been forced upon the people, rather than the natural progression of all societies. The author would benift from readinf why governments exist, because, shockingly, we do need them

Arguing that the court system should be privatized is perhaps the craziest idea I've ever read from a capitalist, this is way beyond Smith or Milton

A paranoid narrative of a schizophrenic world view in which humans are completely irrational and don't make any sense but also, really, actually, all humans care about one thing and one thing only, money, and that is the only reason why anyone would ever bother to do anything at all so obviously a socialist system would never work because why would anyone do anything for the betterment of anyone else?

the book is dense and intellectually stimulating and encourages you to connect the dots. so far so good.
