This is not a Christmas story so don’t ask me why it has this title. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

They’re making me ship those two even though I’ve read the later books and know who ends up with who.

I feel like to make it more Christmas centred since it’s a Christmas book, they should have cut younger Christina out a bit. I know it shows her determination at a young age but the story isn’t really at her 10 y.o. self, it’s 13 and 16. And considering her birthday is on Christmas they could have done a party.

I really like the turn the book has taken.

And that’s what they needed to lead with. She’s young and needs time to be trained therefore Christina does need the other horse.

Retraining Jazz is interesting. I still think they needed some explanation about Chris needing Folly still to keep competing.

Also disappointed this isn’t more Christmas focused. The actual novel has nothing to do with Christmas.

I think they needed a little explanation because the other horse was fine a chapter or so ago.

(2/2) He didn’t spend time waffling about because he couldn’t figure out the problem. It gave credibility to his role because he acted like he actually had experience. Sometimes Ian and Mike act like they couldn’t run a business save for their 12 year old’s and lucky streaks.

Have they raced her against another horse? The thing that worked in the first TB books is that even though Ash pondered on what to do, Charlie always had a solution. (1/2)

Based on the description of the jump rounds Ross should have gotten third or less, and how come, if Rebecca got the same faults as him and Ross came second, she didn’t place at all?
Still a good scene though! Nostalgic of my gymkhana days and I was as nervous as Christina too!!

This was also written a year before Cindy existed. It’s funny that took me so long to realise and it was the horses that reminded me because I wondered where Glory was 🤣

I’m thinking this super edition was published before the later books with Ashleigh and Brad’s kids. I like the name Parker better than Ross but it’s going to spoil my read. I guess this is alternative reality therefore he could have a different name in the correct reality.

Ross? ROSS? Townsend? When was this PUBLISHED???

That is exciting! I wonder if she’ll meet Parker at the show 😉 I really enjoyed Parker’s books, it was a good change to read from a male POV and the cross country is interesting.

It’s kind of sweet, but I wish they’d have gone about it slightly differently. Made it more organic? I like that they’re making it parallel to Ashleigh but it’s a touch too obvious- though maybe not for a children’s book? Nah, kids are smart. They could have made it subtler and everyone would have still got it.

Weren’t they going to name Jazz, Whitebrook Lass? Yet here’s a mare with the name already 🤣
