Status Updates From The Histories of William Sh...

I have now only to read Henry VIII and I will have studied all 10 of the histories in this volume. I have also not read Edward III which has been attributed to Shakespeare since publication of this volume. I think I’ll need at least another year to read through all the comedies and tragedies! Not to mentioned the poems.

On to 1 Henry IV a play I studied at university. The old United College.

I’ve now read King John and Richard II. I studied the latter at night school many years ago. The language of Richard II is of course soaring and inspirational, and the pathos inspires profound sympathy for the human condition. I’m now going to study The Oxford Shakespeare volume of Richard II. Then King Kohn from the same series.

I've finished "king john" but I'm giving it a careful rereading. A very enjoyable play, written entirely in verse.

Currently reading the first play "King John". I've a little ways to go! It's interesting to note how much more straightforward Shakespeare's early poetry is compared to his later tragic oeuvre. Comparative, much more accessible than say "Timon of Athens" that had me constantly consulting dictionaries, footnotes and references.
