The end of the first part of Pip's journey marks a point from which his fall from grace is set in. Biddy's goodness but her wonderfully acerbic comments (completely unnoticed by Pip) is very skillfully portrayed. So many characters are shown by Dickens to be the angels in Pip's life - Herbert Pocket, Joe, Biddy.
