Sooo rewarding to suspect Meiville was intentionally doing something metaphorically Train-related by his continuous use of ampersands instead of "and" & I get a whole chapter talking about how right and smart I specifically am thank you China

Did not plan to read this at the same time as Moby Dick but the serendipity is working in overdrive. I’m getting the source themes and the wild thrice-removed deconstruction at the same time, while also being distinctly different experiences. Love my M**villes

Am I reading a Moby Dick retelling right now? I haven't read Moby Dick. I'm unprepared for this

I would very much like to see this as a tv show. Something akin to the live-action One Piece.
Which is not how I feel about China's other books. This one has a child-like sense of adventure.
