Taking breaks with this book is not advised, unless you can manage to keep all the generations straight as the POVs switch around. Took me a while to pinpoint everyone down again, mostly the older generation. The characters' journeys feel realistic enough to resonate with me. The parallel Kanako just drew between Shoji and Kono was on point.

POVs shift without an immediate indication of whose POV it is. It wouldn't be so bad if time wasn't shifting as well, through the two-and-a-half generations it seems to be concentrating on. Otherwise, the characters are hmm, interesting for the most part, some more unconventional than others.
