Status Updates From Eight Months on Ghazzah Street

The culture shock was probably more shocking when this came out 40 years ago than it is now. The writing has its moments but the characters and their dialogue are on the dull side.

I'm loving this so far, but life keeps getting in the way of my making faster progress! I'm enjoying that feeling of engagement, though, with my mind half here in my familiar Western surroundings, and half in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
