Status Updates From Islam : Religion of Life -

To the man of religious insight, the world is a realm of trial, of self-purification and of austerity, but it is not intrinsically evil, since it is of God.

Philosophy reaches upwards and is frustrated. Religion reaches downwards from Heaven, and, if not corrupted at the hands of men, can bring us to a true understanding of ourselves and our function.

“The unexamined life is not worth living,” said Socrates, and this question is always true, always equally urgent. Religion, as the only means of finding an answer to this question, is thus the most important, indeed, in a sense, the only meaningful activity of man.

So far seems like a condensed version of Eaton's "Islam and the Destiny of Man" minus all the weird perennialism. May become my new "go-to" intro to Islam recommendation...
