Y'know, for a bodice ripper about white slavery & prostitution in turn-of-the-century Caribbean, this is remarkably bland & toothless with no flair or real sense of peril. And the heroine is such a flake...not in an endearing way, just a naive, flouncy shrew.

Better activate the 50-page rule for this one. The writing doesn't impress me, esp when read alongside Teresa Denys.
