My favorite chapter so far is "Horse Power" where Silbernagel relates both the Ute and Meeker stance on the horse; Silbernagel made, for me, a profound statement, "In this, as with so many of the conclusions Meeker reached regarding the Utes, his thinking was a significant part of the problem, not the solution."
