A grim read to start, but it’s worth persevering. Although the story itself is very simple the descriptive language is powerful. This book offers insight into the threats, fear, inspiration and beauty that the wild landscape presents. At first the descriptions felt overwhelming but they reflect the protagonist’s mind & are later set in relief by the narrative views of minor characters. Read as an immersive journey.
