Status Updates From The Mother Tongue - English...

Holy shit. I have never Dnf-ed a book so fast. I really like A walk in the woods and I still want to read other books of his, maybe on a subject I know less about. He is factually wrong and he cherry-picks examples to glamorize English.
But on a positive note, this was a real boost for my confidence. Apparently, I remember enough to spot to mistakes

I was super excited to read this book, and to refresh my knowledge of the history of the English language in a fun way, because I will need it in my teaching this semester. I wanted this book over the book we will discuss in class because Bryson is fun, and I only need a refresher.
How am I already pissed off? I love English (obviously) but talking down EFL speakers and other cultures IN THE FIRST FEW PAGES? Dude.
