Status Updates From Images of hope;: Imaginatio...

“Imagining things rightly and fully is among the most human of gifts. Most of us, while not artists or poets, are better at it than we think. The trouble with the ill is not too much imagination or imaging, but too little. I who have no imagination will rock the world with my fantasy and my twelve dollar gun.”

He’s got these gems cast throughout.

You can't "fake" years of study, experience, and the relief of reality. And Lynch has it all. My hopes (no pun intended) for this book have been exceeded. He speaks of hope as "putting on the imagination of another", of being highly relational (we don't just "have it deep down"), and always expanding possibility, freedom, creativity. Among the most dense, and clear, books I've read.

Written in 1965, but point taken:
In the encyclopedia there is much written on love, still more on faith, but not one entry on hope.

For what can I hope? In whom can I hope? What if what I hope for doesn't happen? Was I wrong? Am I to wait?

What IS hope?

This is a brave and articulate venture into hope, what it means to see our experience as 'human' and "the imagination as the healer of the hopeless".
