Another example of the author’s poor math: “But when Franklin [D. Roosevelt] was ten, his sixty-two-year-old father…” The former was born in January 1882 and the latter in August 1828, so when FDR turned 10, his father was 63, and he would turn 64 later that year. More strangely, the author seems to speak of RECENT developments in James’s poor health, but in Nov 1890, when Franklin would have only been 8.

Omg, this author can’t do math to save her life!! At the 27% mark, I’ve caught her misstating people’s ages and otherwise making mistakes about years at least 7-8 times!! The latest example: “By 1886, Sara, James, and Franklin, now five…” FDR was born in 1882.

So far - I'm 10% of the way through the book - so good. My one complaint is that the author is very loose with the ages of these two fascinating women, Jennie Jerome Churchill and Sara Delano Roosevelt. At least 3 times so far, the author has incorrectly given the ages of the women at different points of their childhood, sometimes up a year, sometimes down.
