Status Updates From Marathon Cowboys

Jesse Clayton and Lorenzo Maryboy meet when Lorenzo has to get into a fight to save Jesse. Lorenzo Maryboy is a former Marine/cartoonist, while Jesse is an artist. Everything is from Maryboy's point of view. I thought he falls too easily in love with Jesse. The thought process to come up with a cartoon strip or a painting is so beautifully expressed. Sarah Black does have a wonderful way with words.

They're all nuts in this book!

I'm not loving this. Why? I wanted to love it.

“What I can’t believe is that you wore that into a bar in Alpine on a Friday night. Why didn’t you just wear your rainbow T-shirt?” That got me a sour look. “I don’t need a T-shirt. I’ve got a rainbow tattooed on my ass.”

Hehe...didn't expect this to be funny.

Now this was a great start!

It was funny, but I'd never thought of anyone but people like me fighting for America. But people like Jesse, the artists, they were working on America too. The folks at the ACLU who were working for LGBT rights, they were working for America. It wasn't just the Devil Dogs, keeping the Huns from the gate. It made me feel better, somehow, thinking that all these brilliant, beautiful minds were hard at work.

So what did it mean, that the way I felt when I realized I had fallen in love was the exact same way I'd felt when I nearly died from exploding shrapnel?
