This book opens as a story about a man coming to the town of Comala to find his father, a man named Pedro Páramo. It leaves that story behind fairly quickly and becomes a surreal tone poem that sometimes reads like a fever dream. Don't go looking for plot, although a story will still find you. To be honest, I don't know how I feel about this book, but I can tell that it's one which rewards re-reading.
