Status Updates From The Widow's Cruise

My first official read for the Giallo July reading event, not counting the fact that the 8 books I’m reading for Private Eye July fit right in with Giallo July, in the general sense. My favourite from this series is Minute for Murder; The Beast Must Die was great, but I detest picking the crowd-pleaser as my own personal fave; I’m spiky that way. I have the first in the series handy, for someday.

A superb start. I didn’t realize how much I missed being on a cruise ship for a murder. The False Inspector Dew is tied for being my favourite Mystery novel (it’s the only genre where I can’t pick one, thanks to Black Water Lilies) and I doubt any deadly cruise could top it, but Nicholas Blake is going to try mightily, it seems. The Greek setting also reminds of Come Away, Death, by Mitchell…but this time we cruise!

Four Crime & Mystery novels I read this month will not be for Private Eye July, but will instead fit weekly (or so) criteria for a reading event called Giallo July. First, I have to read something with yellow on the cover, and this Fontana edition I have of The Widow’s Cruise is going to have to do. I have already enjoyed several books in the Nigel Strangeways series, hoping for another great one.
