Read it several years ago and found it comforting, so am reading it again.

The tribute to Phil Weld and his book, Moxie, is enlightening. “It is an unusual tribute to Moxie that there isn’t a line of it an editor would want to cut, nor ... passages one feels should have been extended.” (274)

Just completed a passage outlining a business idea that would give those who might want to crew an Atlantic passage an opportunity as vessels move from Caribbean to Mediterranean ... and back again. Pretty good thinking, and a business opportunity, I believe, for a good planner and networker.

Now completed Book One, which is a travelogue if here and there, mostly covering the five or so years since the sail of Atlantic High. The final chapter of this section is about Tahiti ... and it is a disappointment to the travelers (including WFB, sister Priscilla, Christopher and Betsy Little, again on the Sealestial). It’s rainy (10 of 11 days) and hot (it’s middle of the summer in the Southern Hemisphere).

So many great passages, some repetitious but happily so. I think I could reread Buckley’s prescription for a Friday/Saturday sail over and over. Idyllic and great on the vicarious scale.
