I restarted reading at page one, giving Callaghan some credit since he had been pals with Hem and Scotty in Paris forty years before he wrote this book. Hem yelled at him about his run on sentences. I thought I came across that sentence in this book

Gosh, another novel of his about hookers, prostitution, organized crime and generally low -lives and all the upstanding individuals who fall into rebelling against law and order using the spheres of the sex life, the love life, the human reproductive system with all its aggressions and violence.
My contention is that one writes what one knows about, the poor man.
