Status Updates From The Gallows Tree

This is an American writing a British setting, there are clues.

I'm liking the characters and hint of haunting. But don't have a visual of the places and at 40% characters have barely met.

// Okay so the mystery here isn’t a mystery as much as it just reads as ODD o__O!! I’m getting bored and I’ve started skimming!! Btw I’ll note that there is absolutely NO relationship development so far; NOTHING has even happened yet o__O!! They share a kiss here but it’s anti-climactic and I feel NO connection to this story, its characters, OR the MCs!! Very MEH!!

// I have a few more books by this author that I bought that I WILL read, but after that, I am completely done with this author!! I purchased all the books pretty much around the same time and hadn't cracked any of them open, until AFTER purchasing them all, so I had NO clue I apparently HATE this author's work o__O!! But now that I know, I'll definitely read everything I purchased, but after that I am DONE!!

// Waaaait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute!!! They're talking about Vince beating on Cody, and Cody is ACTUALLY defending him right now?!!? Or, not so much HIM but that it happened??!! I mean, it'd "make sense" if he were still in the relationship, but ... WHAT?!!?

BTW, looking back on my reading history with this author, it looks like i hated ALL her books o__O!! I can't believe I forgot that!!

// I'm not liking Cody much at all right now :-/!! He snaps WAY too much and the "rage and regret" syndrome he's got going on is NOT okay!! YES, he has been through a shit-ton that I could never EVER imagine, but when do we say "enough is enough" with his hot and cold bullshit?!!? He needs to apologize for being an asshole to Justin and Seb, because it is inexcusable!!

// "I'd like it if you left now."

~ Here's the thing, Cody! You can at least be NICE about it by saying, 'I'd like to be alone now please", or something to that effect, so Sebastian doesn't feel like a creeper for doing something so ridiculously nice for you!! I get that it's NOT about him, but keep in mind your actions DO impact the people you don't mean to impact!! Awareness matters!!

// You're scared Vince will find you [and rightfully so], you know he IS trying to find you, and you have evidence that may be very crucial in all of this [especially him probably violating probation], and you're not willing to help yourself in that regard?!!? That strikes me as incredibly odd and imbecilic!! It's like saying you're afraid of being burned and then shoving your hand into fire!! WTF?!? REPORT HIM!!!!!

// I’m VERY proud of Cody for telling Sebastian everything :-)!! Now that Sebastian knows, he can support and court Cody properly :-)!!

This author is at it again! I previously mentioned, I WON’T let this author’s BS impact my reading here or this book, but I felt compelled to point it out! I’ll read all the books I own by this author and I’ll give them a fair chance! But then I’ll be done; I probably won’t buy new books! I will not continue to support an author I have a personal growing dislike for, even if her books are good as a general whole! NO!

Liking this book so far :-)!!

I’m starting to really dislike this author and (it seems) her latent dislike of the female gender!!! It’s almost to the point where I’m annoyed this book was written by her! But anyway, I’m focusing only on the story/men and am completely dismissing the author!!

// “He even remembered letting out some kind of freaking girly shriek when the dog had landed on him. Jeez.”

~ This author. AGAIN with the “like a girl” shit!! The characters are lovely and so far I’m enjoying them and this book, so I am going to completely ignore this author’s bullshit, because it IS the author’s BS and not the MC’s!!

// Whoa, wait, were they ghosts?!!? Ooooo this is getting better and better :-)!! I’m in the mood for something a bit paranormal :-)!!

// I really REALLY like that Cody has a warm, strong, loyal, loving, supportive family :-)!! His close relationship with his mom and sister are wonderful :-)!!

// Awwww, Cody, sweetheart :-/! I’m really liking Abigail by the way :-)!!

Note: YAYYY a strong female character :-)!!

// I cannot imagine wanting to sell a cottage you own [or inherited] in an idyllic place like that :-), and I hope you decide NOT to :-)!!

// I adore it when a character/MC calls his mother “Momma” instead of just ‘Mom’ :-)!!

// “His mind played them over and over again. What if he hadn't met Vince Antonelli? What if he hadn't gone home with him? What if Vince hadn't done just enough for a younger more impressionable Cody to fall in love? Would any of it have happened? Or was Cody Garret predestined to always be some man's punching bag?”
