A book written by a slave from the plantation one of my ancestors owned. He freed all of the slaves in his will and wanted no more slaves to be owned on that property afterward because he learned that it was wrong to own a person. This experience written by a slave is harrowing but necessary to understand how the people who loved that life felt and understand what they endured. It should be read by all.
