There’s some racism that kinda zapped me out of the book a bit, hope it won’t be too prevalent throughout.

Despite only being a little ways through the book I’ve found it extremely enjoyable, and in some instances profound and touching, often reflecting on my own childhood. Though still being an adolescent myself.

Seeing more of Phillips flaws developed. His jealous streak and inferiority complex. There is a need to possess those he admires/loves. His perception of his faith is dramatically impacted by viewing his “deformity” as a gift from God and experiences increased passion in faith. Seems to exert his energy unevenly/to the point of exhaustion for himself. Strong codependency vibes from Phillip.
