Of course, since this novel was written in 1907, there are some aspects of the story that don’t stand the test of time. The most recent thing I’ve found is this child (Gerald) saying “When I marry, I’ll marry a dumb girl, or else get the ring to make her so that she can’t speak unless she’s spoken to.” Great, Gerald.
