Oh. I was already iffy about this book but the “I’m not a psychopath” comment completely ruined it for me. Damn.

Considering Pagan had been selfish from the get-go, how on earth has it been determined that she made the ultimate selfless act, one that seems her “worthy of Death’s love”? She had a choice of Dank apparently being in Hell and her roaming the earth aimlessly or Dank being in Hell but her continuing her life in which her mother, who is lovingly checking up on her at the same time, is waiting for her, as are all

The abundance of 5 star book early on in my Goodreads ratings is not reflective of perfect books but, rather, my enjoyment of reading as a whole. I would read books solely for pleasure that reading gave me but that also meant not critically reading and not necessarily overlooking flaws in the plot or writing or character development but not searching for them either. I know this won’t be a 5 star read now and I…

“This bedroom had held Dank. It would hold the memories of him.” Are you being serious? You’ve heard Dank sing a few times in your short stay, so now you hold fond memories of the psychiatric institution for teenage girls that your mother agreed you to be forcibly enrolled?

Sword & Cross vibes. A pantomime of sorts, but Deathly rather than angelically?

The loving devoted boyfriend. 12 year old me didn’t dislike him but she very much overlooked him in her eagerness to see Dank’s name appear across the page. I have no idea who Leif ends up with as I never did complete this series, as an ebook or not, but he deserves to be given a chance…lack of humanness and likely questionable future behaviour aside.

Funny how my younger self was so willing to overlook the faults of this text in pursuit of epub skim-reading. Well, it’s not that I overlooked them, per se, but that I was so eager to see more of the love between Pagan and Dank - much like I am much more impatient with the romance aspects in general when it comes to ebooks - that I skipped over a lot of the plot. Pagan is a lot more selfish and Leif is a lot more..
