I love to imagine the ancient aliens guy reading this series as pure nonfiction

This may be the right place to remark that I had long since learned that if one is entertaining unpopular ideas, one has only to keep quiet and wait for the invisible wheels to turn that will bring those ideas back as the last word in intelligent and forward-looking thinking.

There are times in one’s life when it seems as if everything that happens streams together, each event, or person, or even an overheard remark becoming an aspect of a whole - a confluence whose sources go back into the past, reach forward into the future.

I get more how this is connected to *Shikasta* now, which makes me wish I remembered more about *Shikasta*, it’s ethnography and cataclysm. At least Ambien II feels more like a character now.

This has yet to get to any momentum. It’s about competitive colonialism and is pretty dry. Wondering if it would read better if I read the first book in the series more recently.

Beginning to regret not reading these closer together so I could better follow what was going on with Canapus and Shikasta.

Enjoying it so far. Interesting preface from the author: a short exposition on the rationale for the book series which could be read as a defence of the project. An appeal to the reader for understanding, asking them not to rush to judgement based on preconceptions the author may have second guessed.
