I love Pearl Cleage’s books for the romance build-up. However, the side stories offer awareness but sometimes lose me.
I find myself Googling side characters b/c my focus is on the main plot. I thought there was more of an emphasis on the mother-daughter relationship. Instead, the daughter is absent for most of the novel.

I'm really loving this book so far! No one can take Toni Morrison's place as my favorite author, but Pearl Cleage is slowing joining the top 5.
