Status Updates From City of Man's Desire: A Nov...

None of the characters is likeable. It's turned into a love story among Europeans in Constantinople. I'm disappointed. I thought it would be more about the revolution and aftermath and its effect on local people. Not really that much description of Constantinople of that period, in my opinion. I'm skimming and this novel has become a chore to read.

What I think is the central event of this novel: the Young Turk Revolution of 1908.

This book is interesting so far, a little hard to get into because of my lack of knowledge of the land and history. Intrigued to learn more though!

got this one from First Reads. I really want to love it but I'm having trouble getting into it and I keep getting distracted by other books. It's clear the author did a lot of research... the worldbuilding is excellent. But somehow the prose feels... stilted? Not sure. I'll take another whack at it, tho.
