Reading about the history of my denomination. I was raised on the missionary frontier while important events were occurring in the Deep South and Northeast. The Denomination was a major societal force in the mid twentieth century but is not a refuge; a nostalgia church for the elderly and a refuge for scholars appreciating the tolerance of doubt in their Christianity.
