Status Updates From Strom Thurmond's America

Reading about Thurmond’s childhood provides some definite context clues about what the person he would become later on. But because it’s so early on in the book, not all my of questions have been answered. Can’t wait for the rest.

Finished the introduction. An extremely fiery and convincing intro. Makes me excited to read the rest.

I feel like I owe it to myself to know more about the greatest hypocrite in American history. Maybe then I’ll understand why he was the way he was and how he was able to keep his greatest secret under wraps for so long.

I am reading this book for a Modern American History class. It is pretty tough to read how, as an African American, you were the object of such vile multi-generational hatred - based on ignorance of the history of this country ... including when Natives lived and thrived here.

Almost done reading this book.
