Status Updates From Доктор Живаго. Повести

Despite this book taking me a full year to get halfway through it, I really enjoy it. I don't fully understand why Nabokov hates this book, the prose is gorgeous and flowery. The Red Army is human and represent what the people in Russia were believing when they fought in the Civil War. Neither the Whites nor the Reds are villainized, which is a more positive and realistic outlook on the war.

A lot of characters so far… a lot to keep track of, very frequent but seemingly insignificant interconnections between each character which will hopefully serve a purpose beyond just presenting many characters and stories in one book to paint a picture of pre-revolutionary (and further on) Russia…
