Chap 21 made me physically sick to read.. the platoon comes across a boy wandering on the road - they take him to the nearby village & find out his story.. he’s the village elders oldest grandson who was taken by insurgents- had his eyes gauged out & burned so no tears could form, teeth knocked out (for sexual pleasure), & raped for weeks before he was rescued… we find out he is 6 years old.
Heartbreaking.
