Status Updates From A Dream Within a Dream

I think this poem is about loss and control. Poe says something about "sand slipping through his hands" and how he wishes he could hold on tighter to the sand. That I think is the metaphor for wanting control. The sand slips away, no matter how hard he tries/wishes he could keep it, and it frustrates him.

While all the world were chiding,
Hath cheered me as a lovely beam

Love these poems. Edgar had soul and weren’t afraid to share it.
