Excellent and not an easy read. First 120 pages is amazing look at bird behavior. The rest is a long slog across all the bird families of North American. A section on loons, a section on crows and jays and so forth.
Worth the price for the first section alone. The book would be a great text for a college course or two on Ornithology.

Finished nighthawks, nightjars, owls and hummingbirds. Long, slow and worth it.

An excellent book for the amateur ornithologist. Includes things like most parrots are left-handed, Murres can dive and hunt 600 ft. deep underwater, some Auks are unfaithful and get divorced, and pigeons and doves are the only birds in North America that can drink upside down.
A long read, but worth it to people interested in nature.

If you finish this you’re something of an amateur ornithologist. Could easily serve as a college text. Deep and broad. You will learn a lot.

Finished the portion on bird physiology and behavior in the main. The rest of the book is short chapters on bird families. Currently in the chapters on sea birds like Albatross, Shearwaters and Storm Petrels.
