"[...]wisdom is found mainly in competitively tested individual adaptations, in wild species and sometimes still in cultivated ones, rather than in the overall structure of natural ecosystems, which have been tested only by persistence. People who advocate copying ecosystem-level aspects of nature may therefore be choosing the wrong things to copy.”

The book's going on on an amazing level of clarity. That's key, since the subject is complex and the explanation of some mechanisms might be tricky to understand. Yet, Denison is a master in explaining. I'll repeat myself: the subject is complex while the book is wonderfully clear.

The importance of this book is enormous. For now, I am reading in amazement. I have some basic knowledge of evolution mechanisms but I had never asked before what would be the practical application of natural selection on agriculture. The author is opening up a new world of constraints and perspectives...

This much-desired book will be hard to bit. However, I need this type of new perspective on the field.
The first 40-ish pages focus on the point of the book and introduce natural selection. I feel that most of the book will be about trade-offs in nature and how can we successfully exploit then in agriculture.

Cool stuff!

Someone who thinks about plant breeding and the opportunities of GM in a much grander scale than usually read, very interesting
