Status Updates From Blue

"some whoop-ass liquor— / plumb grottos , ghettos, of imagination, / dive into bleeding, unfathomable blossoms, / ogle the tryst of robins among the eves" — from "Rum"

"Speech leeches" from Tobago. I'm not really connecting with this poetry. It's richly detailed, but abrupt, phrases short and cut off, blunt and sharp in it's language (al the more jarring when it switches to languid French). It's good writing, but maybe not for me.

This is fierce poetry, but I'm not personally connecting with it.

"1933" paints a horror story, full if detailed gore, all the more awful because it feels like it could be true or could be a mix of true stories, showing a cycle of violence due to racism.

Just read the intro and I'm already falling in love.
