I think it's time to DNF for much the same reason as I stopped Madeline Miller's Circe. That said it might be a case of it's not you, it's me. There is something of a realism to the representation of Hermes as an entitled, egotistical, manipulator that I'm severely struggling with.

But my moment of soporific privacy was cut short by the sound of a young male calling out to me. “Hey! Who are you? What are you doing here?”

These being the first words Crocus says to Hermes. Hermes pretends to be human, using the name Herates

Animals were harmed in the making of this book. 🐄🐢
Smart Hermes knew exactly how to get Hera on side, nasty game though.
At this point his greatest weakness is underestimating his opponents. Also he's not quite looking enough moves ahead.

"When Hera is away, the King of the Gods will play.
And my mother, Maia, was one of his many sexual conquests. Well, my father may have considered them sexual conquests from his own perspective, but most of the other women viewed themselves as his victims."

Hermes is already proving himself an interesting voice. This is my first in the series so I have no idea what I'm in for.

I, being a Stardew Valley nerd, instantly recognised that Crocus is the name of a flower. A flower that blooms in the earliest of Spring. If that isn't relevant in some way I'll be surprised.
