I don’t like writing negative critiques on here, so I won’t post a review. But this one was a turn in the series and I doubt I’ll pick up #4. The denouement mirrors the angst of a lot of contemporary mysteries, and not in a compelling way. The content is darker throughout, which feels awkward juxtaposed against the hokey cowboy humor. #1-2 were great, this one fell short.

I’m too deep in to DNF but we’re ready for this one to be done.

The first two in this series were PHENOMENAL. This entry has shifted a bit. A bit more crude at points, a bit darker, I’m not sold on the setting/premise. Tempted to DNF. Unless the second half blows my socks off, this will be my last in the series 😶
