Lanelda says she is making him come over tonight to pay for the vet bills. Roe and Angel wait for him to show up outside staked out. Roe catches a glimpse of him and it’s the man who tried to kill them the other day with the ax!

Martin goes to Guatemala to quit the gun business. Roe needs to try to find Ms. Totino’s sister in New Orleans. So she and Angel leave and try to find her at an address they find for her. The sister, Alicia Manigult is not at the house. She rents it out now. Lanelda Coleman leaves at the house now with her husband Carl. The woman’s dog is sick b/c the rent collector who works for Alicia had kicked their dog!

Martin arrives home. Roe and Angel went out front to play frisbee to break their hiding out until they find out who tried to kill Roe. The frisbee went up on the roof by the patio extension. Roe went up to get it and saw a tarp that had been there a while. There she found 3 bodies. One had a wig on. She found the Julius family. The police arrived.

Roe tried calling Harley Dimmoch, Charity’s boyfriend. But he didn’t answer, his mom did. He hasn’t been the same since the disappearance. He was really fond of Charity. Roe asked the mom to have him call her. Roe was getting ready to leave the house when a man came running out of the tool shed chasing after her with an ax. Angel saved her. Martin is coming home and not going to Guatemala to quit now.

Parnell is the one who poured the new patio at the Julius house the day before the family went missing. He never saw the dad, T.C., but the daughter, Charity, and her boyfriend showed him where to pour. He had seen Hope standing in the kitchen. She looked healthier that day and seemed to be going out b/c she was wearing her fancy wig she wore to church.

Bubba Sewell is the lawyer for the Julius estate. He said the mother gets their estate when they are declared dead in a few months. When people go missing they are declared dead after 7 years. Martin has to go to Guatemala out of no where. Roe is mad b/c she can tell he is lying again. Martin tells Roe that he still sells guns! Roe is very mad. Martin tells her he is going to quit that business.

(29) ah yes, the classic former librarian who mocks romance novels, what a fun trope

Sally shares her notes from the Julius case with Roe.The mom awoke to the family missing.Went through the front door to find them b/c the back patio had been poured the day before by Parnell Engle.Charity had a boyfriend from where they used to live that had came that day to help.Lynne said the PD had an extensive search but not an aerial search b/c they didn’t have the budget.Lynn seems worried about Martin too.

Roe is looking into the disappearance of the Julius family. This will keep her busy. And distract her from Martin’s secret life that will sort itself out on. Roe is getting Angels help with the case and looking around the house for any secret areas where the bodies could be.

Something happened to Angel that made the couple begin learning martial arts & became bodyguards. They had a bad encounter with a client & needed to hide for a little so Shelby came to see Martin and he is worried about Roe being alone in the house so far from the city so he hired them to watch after her. Roe starts crying. Not sure why. She doesn’t think Martin told her the whole truth but she can live with it.

Roe asks Martin about the Youngbloods. Wants the story. Martin and Shelby were in the army together. After they left the army, another government office asked them to sell guns to people. They worked with another kid. On a delivery they got ambushed and the kid got his head blown off. Shelby and Martin left. Shelby went to see the kids family in Florida. Angel was his sister. They got married.

Everyone is worried for Roe b/c Martin is so mysterious. Her best friend Amina is worried. Her mother too. Especially with the Youngbloods in town. They are strange too. Roe gets defensive and shuts her down. No one seems really happy for her including her dad. Who last minute decided to come to the wedding so Roe walked her self down the aisle. Her and Martin got married and went to England for their honeymoon.

Roe had her bridal shower. An older resident, Neecy, told Roe about the previous owners of her house. The Zinsner’s. they are the ones who built the house. Melba Totino, mother of the Julius family is still living in the Peachtree Leisure Apartments. Reverend Aubrey has been doing counseling for Roe and Martin. He is concerned for row that Martin won’t open up with her which is what ended his first marriage.

Roe calls Martin out for his lack of sharing, so he tells her more about Shelby. They were close friends. Fell apart but then reconnected. He is married, Angel. Roe is working hard on the remodeling of the Julius house. Shelby arrives. He seems okay. Is driving Martin’s car while he is away on a work trip. Roe doesn’t know if her dad is coming to the wedding yet. She is starting to have wedding panic.

Martin has some work trips he needs to leave for and the trips go right up until the wedding. He is letting Roe take charge of remodeling the Julius house. Then Martin asks if a friend of his from Vietnam could live in the apartment over the garage at the Julius house with his wife. He just recently lost his job and Martin is trying to get him on at Pan-Am Agra. His name is Shelby Youngblood.

Roe returns home and her and Martin go to dinner. That night they give each other their wedding gifts - the story went back in time. They aren’t married yet. Martin gives Roe the Julius house. The family went missing one day. Just vanished. Roe gives Martin the farm. They leave the restaurant immediately. When they get back to the car, Martin is crying hysterically. Roe goes to the house to see what needs repair.

After Roe went & saw Cindy; Cindy had a strange inkling of who Roe was. She stopped by her hotel. Told Roe that Martin was always good to her but never told her anything and hid something from her. Roe says she doesn’t want to know. That she wants Martin to tell her but Cindy says he never will. Cindy also told her what drove a wedge with Joseph Flocken. Barby got pregnant in high school and he told their church.

Martin gives Roe the Julius House as a wedding present. This is the same house she was looking into buying in the last book. Roe wants to get Martin a wonderful gift too. She decides to buy his family farm his stepfather has been keeping from him and Barby since their mother passed. She sneaks off to Ohio where he grew up. She goes looking for his first wife, Cindy. She wants to see her. She is gorgeous.
