I’m glad that he ended up getting arrested. It was getting a bit creepy honestly

It's a horror, alright. But not like a splatter/body etc. horror. It's a reminder that us humans are a horrifying species -- we are ungrateful, prone to forget, prone to mistreat each other.

With a number of small intriguing stories in the middle (many of which I quite enjoyed). This collection ends with a longer story (about 100 pages) about a woman who becomes a cloud and yet tries to resolve her marriage issues with her husband and two middle grade aged girls. So far, it’s odd.
I can’t help but find myself thinking back to 6 stories ago, Mother. What a punch that story had for being so short.

The story called ‘Mother’ is chilling.

There’s nothing super Canadian about these stories (maybe city names and cold); yet they are Canadian in their context and overall feel. Very good representation of common Canadian behaviour and attitudes.
Girl on the Metro struck me as I used to take transit daily and so many people would leave distressed folks be. So unCanadian on one hand not to help, and yet passively Canadian at the same time. Makes me sad.
