Grabbing this by the title only, the memoir intro is giving a contemporary CPTSD aura, iykyk
Morimoto, aka Rental Person, is a thirty-something Japanese man based in Tokyo. In 2018 he wrote a tweet announcing the start of a service called Do-nothing Rental “available for any situation in which all you want is a person to be there.”
I thought 'this about to be philosophically funny as fuck.'
not funny so far tho

he talks about going to a conference, and the man is supposed to be a motivational speaker talking about the future in dreams, and what people want to be and he left because he felt like it was pushy and pressure and everyone doesn’t have to be dreaming about the future and everyone doesn’t have to want to do more. It’s OK to be happy in the life that you have. It’s OK not to want to do extra

My first mine was to argue against this
Like yes, that sounds good but everyone needs to work because we need doctors and we need scientist and we need formers and we need architects we need healthcare in the infrastructure XYZ
But it just stayed on my mind
And I agree
Everyone has value .
Everyone has value.
Everyone has value, the end.
People or more or less valuable, because of their abilities to do XYZ magic

“ I like the world to be one where even if people can’t do anything for others even if they can make no contribution to society they still live stress free lives this is very important to me, because of the gap that exist between the value that I sense in people and the value assigned to them by society”

There are two things that I did have to sit and think about which is important because that’s all books here or four to make you think about different things

Overall, this was a very simple Palestine. They’re kind of book.
I think you would enjoy it if you want to read about the idea of what he did with rental person and I didn’t think I was interesting so I did enjoy reading it

It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t oh wow, good.
A very simple light read a clean your pallet, nothing dramatic nothing complex
This book did bring up ideas and topics for me to really sit with and think about even though I don’t think you’re necessarily meant to be a deep book it’s still took takes that I don’t necessarily agree with or take that you don’t hear often and it makes you consider them

Because we can fail, success makes us happy, and that happiness can rub off on other people. Even when we make a mess of things, our efforts may help to establish a bond of trust.

Unless a friend shares a particular interest, inviting them to come along might feel like asking a favor snd thus puts you in their debt.

Rather than all around friends, people seem to have friends for specific purposes - friends to go drinking with, for example, or friends to play computer games with, and friends to go to concerts with.
