Status Updates From Enemy Territory

Finished. Debating whether to give this 4 or 4.5 stars. It was very good and I'm kicking myself mentally for not picking it up sooner. Long story short, this is how you show the prejudices that exist between two groups and the coming to terms of things between two characters. It felt very realistic and I felt for both boys in the measure of this work. I'll have to pen a review later this evening.

LMAO! Oh man, poor Yusuf, and I know I shouldn't laugh at that, but I honestly didn't know the context of what had happened to him until now. I think I know why the author didn't reveal that factor up front because it really does come as a surprise (and is something to laugh at) at this point in the story. In the serious aspect of this though, I really do hope Yusuf gets his eyesight back.

Consider me very impressed with this story thus far. Not only does it give a decent eye into prejudices that exist between these groups, but the story's managed to sweep me along for the ride.

Good girl, Alina. I was wondering when someone would tell Sam off for his commentary. I think this book shows prejudices and knocks them down better than some books I've read as of late. And interestingly enough, this is a shorter story than the ones that I'm thinking of.

I want to smack Sam on the back of the head for his blatant prejudices. To assume that Yusuf doesn't know about Google just because of his particular heritage makes me rage. I realize, though, the prejudices between these boys run deep, and that's been shown well in the book thus far, but it still makes me cringe.

I've got four books I'm jumping between right now, but this I picked up a little quicker because the galley's said to expire soon. I really like the development of the boys (Sam and Yusuf) so far. Interesting that they both ended up at the same hospital for different injuries. This is under 200 pages so I'm going to see if I can finish it up soon.
