The grandma is killing it lol

So this "gentleman" insults her, threatens her, offers to train her to become "the best" courtesan, tries to force her to be put "in her place" and tells her she's not suited for polite society... such a gem !!

It grates on my nerves (and sensibilities) to see once again this brand of jolly promiscuous "heroes" -- in my opinion they should be relegated to annoying sidekick at best... I wish them well, but preferably far away from virtuous heroines...

In this chapter, the "hero" gave her a "punishing kiss", once again offered her the position of mistress (after she's already said no), and thought of her as a wench. And yet she cannot resist him. UGHHHHHHHHH.

I hate this guy. Mary Balogh dudes are usually the opposite of this romance hero stereotype and man I can't wait to get back to her usual love interests.

Things are slightly improved because I do like the sassy grandma.

I do not like this love interest. He prides himself on seducing servants who are not overtly interested, but he actually waits for consent so that's okay. Except NOT because they're servants and that makes consent more complicated. Also, why the fuck would the heroine be into this guy creeping on her when she's trying to work and getting her fired? No way.
