Struggling a bit, but I’ll keep going. It’s not bad it’s just…slow. And I’m starting to think Cassie and Patrick may start driving me crazy if they keep up this line of thinking, lol. 😅

Sure, let’s go from high action zombie apocalypse to slow historical. This sounds like a smart idea. 😂

Every time Kell brings out a new book I go “uh, sounds like she went a *bit* too far…”

Then I discover I need the book and it’s good and I like it.

Unfairness. Blatant unfairness.

(Also you’d think I’d learn to not be so reluctant to read her books because I’m worried they won’t be good.)

I don't think I am the target audience for this book, but I'm curious to see how it ends

Chapter Twenty-Eight Notes:

*swoons and melts onto the floor in a puddle* It is nearly finished. Only the epilogue to go and I'm so here for it. LET'S GO

Chapter Twenty-Six Notes:
Patrick went from being an absolute scoundrel of a man (at least in my opinion) to being... sweet and adorable and almost... wise somehow? Like Cassie's scolding and nearly losing her changed him so much and I love that.

Chapter Twenty-Five Notes:
*muffled screaming as she melts into a complete puddle and dies of happiness* IT'S HAPPENING. I know I said that like 2 chapters ago but IT'S HAPPENING MORE OK I JUST-- AAAAAAAA

Chapter Twenty-Four Notes:
....now I'm worried about Peter. WHAT IS HAPPENING?? She better not just... ahhhh. If this doesn't work out okay in the end, I'm going to be upset.

Chapter Twenty-Three Notes:
THINGS ARE HAPPENING. I REPEAT: THINGS. ARE. HAPPENING. Yes, I was disappointed in things continuing a page ago but honestly, now I'm glad that they've kept going. This is so gripping. I must read more aaaaaa

Chapter Twenty-Two Notes:
Bittersweet meeting of the siblings. Nuff said.

Chapter Twenty-One Notes:
I... wow. I just... I mean... I'm not surprised but I am just... huh. That's certainly interesting. O.o I mean, I'm proud of Patrick though.

Chapter Twenty Notes:
I'm like... about to cry. I wanted for her to say yes so badly and yet I understand why she said no, just... agh. I wasn't ready for it. That said, I guess I have 60 pages left before the book is done... ahhhhhhh so much can still happen before then... *fd*

Chapter Nineteen Notes:
I'm torn between hating Blanche and admitting to myself that I may be a bit like her had I been in her situation. Admittedly, I have nothing in common with her. She doesn't like dogs and is all hoity toity and I'm not (at least I hope not) but at the same time, I can understand where she's coming from. And I appreciate that. I hope that her character arc continues in the near future.

Chapter Seventeen Notes:

The start of the chapter was enthralling and I loved it.

It was a quite sweet chapter featuring a more charming Patrick, quite out of his league but honestly in a good way. I quite liked him like this, and Cassie seemed to appreciate him this way as well. I can't wait to read more :)

Chapter Sixteen Notes:

Talks abt the suicide attempt and post-marital sex

Patrick is so BLIND arghhhhhh. He's frustratingly dynamic still, like I understand what he's doing somewhat but how does he not see that his sisters are stronger than he is and that they can handle themselves just fine???

Overall, everything in this chapter was handled pretty well and in a godly way. I enjoyed it. :)

But argh Patrick...

Chapter Fifteen Notes:

Meeting the Strausses, who are super sweet. Peter is really protective of Alice, which is adorable. The youngest Strauss girl is a DARLING and just... wow. Roth has done such an amazing job with all these characters, even the most minor ones. I don't need to know much about them to know they're amazing. Just the one-liner they speak, even if that's all they get... I'm loving this. AhhhhhhH!

Chapter Fourteen Notes:

Remember when I said I liked Patrick? I. Am SO. Mad. At PATRICK. GRRRRRRRRRR. *small cry moment* I just want my happy ending (though to be fair I still have half a book left agh). But seriously, he's gotta redeem himself here. Cassie was in the right, I'd say. He was so wrong. Ugh.

Chapter Thirteen Notes:

Totally called it. A little bit predictable there, but it's okay. It could've been a lot worse. AND, even though I did call it, I still enjoyed it, so I'm counting that for something.
