Status Updates From The Spoken Word Revolution:...

I feel like I come to this book whenever I need to disabuse myself of my own preconceived notions or just wake me up to what poetry can and often does when done well.

Made it to the hip hop section and it comprises some of the most prolific poetry I have ever read in a completely different language!

Savoring the sound of every syllable of every poem! So rich with character and meaning and pain and public and life and genius!

So cool to learn how poetry was in a way bastardized by removing the poet's voice out of it. The spoken word revolution really outlined the truth that poetry needed the poet to retain its identity instead of becoming people agnostic. It is like life in that way. You need for it to happen to you instead of flipping to the end.

So excited to hear the Master's words! Indulging myself while I wait for Slam Nights on the weekends!
