Los hombres como Henry Crawford buscan muñecas para la repisa, no es un mujeriego clásico, no busca lo físico, busca despertar pasiones a nivel emocional y psicológico. Quedan a merced de su juego de control y reacción.

When she had been coming to Portsmouth, she had loved to call it her home, had been fond of saying that she was going home; the word had been very dear to her; and so it still was, but it must be applied to Mansfield. That was now the home.
Portsmouth was Portsmouth; Mansfield was home.

William was gone;-and the home he had left her in, was-Fanny could not conceal it from herself-in almost every respect, the very reverse of what she could have wished. It was the abode of noise, disorder, and impropriety.

In my situation, it would have been the extreme of vanity to be forming expectations on Mr. Crawford. I am sure his sisters, rating him as they do, must have thought it so, supposing he had meant nothing. How then was I to be-to be in love with him the moment he said he was with me? How was I to have an attachment at his service, as soon as it was asked for?
