Status Updates From Short Stories: Five Decades...

The mistake was mine. I read these stories from start to finish over a period of 2-3 weeks. The bleakness, inhospitableness, pointlessness and often depressing nature of the stories was almost too much to bear. If I had read them with multiple recovery periods interspersed I would feel differently I am sure. Most are well written, a few are entertaining, but mostly I felt I had been battered by heavy weight boxer.
