provides math tools that you can use to get started. This book is much more geared for someone at my level

This book is much more down-to-earth and more hands-on.

reading scatter plots and orbits around chaotic attractors. Graphics are quite helpful in this area. We devote huge amounts of cortical material in the back of heads on visual discernment probably more so than language processing and way more than logic and recursion abilities of equations. A technical way of saying a picture says a thousand words.

the tools to investigate Chaos and Fractals at the beginning of the book are heavy-duty math tools. I mean he is relatively gentle on the reader but this stuff is not easy. The rest of the book on the actual science of chaos is much lighter even breezy.
