'It's an interesting experience, having a man entirely at my mercy. (...) There's a lot of talk about equality, but men still have all the advantages— they're bigger, tougher, & the social rules favour them. I can't walk down a street at night, alone, without being afraid; I'd be wary of going back to a man's flat after a date, or being alone with him anywhere unless I'd known him for years & trusted him.'

'He lowered his lids and watched her through his black lashes, his eyes like the silvery gleam of water through dark reeds.' I love this image

'Clare went back to the bed, took off his leather slippers, leaving his feet bare. He had quite large feet, but elegantly shaped, she noted; long and thin with gracefully shaped toes, a dusting of black hair on the upper skin. Clare groaned. Keep your mind on what you're doing! she scolded herself. And stop looking at him!' some surprise foot content!

If an HP family isn't shite they're @ least comically useless: 'They were all supposed to do it in turn (...) it was (...) Clare who ended up doing the cooking. Clare's father did the shopping most days, but cooking wasn't something he enjoyed or was good at, nor were any of the others. Robin & Jamie thought cooking was 'for girls' & Lucy, although always willing to do it, often drifted off into daydreams & forgot.'

She ought to be imprisoned for this rapey, serial-killer behaviour. This is unacceptable. 😡😤

The reviews have been harsh. Caring about your moronic sister isn't "interfering", especially since they live under the same roof. Being wary of an overly-eager guy isn't wrong, especially if you've been betrayed before.
British family life isn't like American family life. Family members have a greater say in your life.

A character named "Bella" in a novel with "Vampire" in the title, and now the reference to "Clair de Lune". And we aren't talking about "Twilight"!
Errrr.... Hmmmmm! Stephenie Meyer hadn't read this novel before she wrote her own...right?!

He casts a reflection in the mirror, so I guess he isn't really a vampire!! 😅😁😁

Huh!! I hadn't realised, back when I was a teen, that this author uses some super tough vocabulary words (for a romance novel!) and that her punctuation is near perfect. 😍👍
